“More Than Landmarks” a short film that celebrates the culture and identity of Chiang Mai by our team at Nipan Studio, has taken another meaningful step forward by winning the “Best Award” at the Film Village 2026 Festival, held on Sunday, May 17. at Fahlanna Art Museum Chiangmai.
As with many of our previous works, this film once again brings the natural charm and authenticity of two young Hmong siblings, Cheng and Jua, to the screen, alongside our familiar supporting cast members, Newton and Game, whose bright personalities and genuine performances brought warmth and life to the story.
While this project may not have been the most challenging in terms of acting itself, it became a significant challenge for the director and crew, who had to work closely with performers as young as five years old. We had to use every bit of creativity, patience, and care to guide these young actors and keep them engaged in their roles throughout the production. Even amid an atmosphere filled with laughter, smiles, and playful chaos, we were still able to bring this project to life in the best way we possibly could.
Throughout the event, the atmosphere was filled with stories told through the perspectives of a new generation, moments of laughter, excitement, warmth, and the power of creativity.
Together, these voices beautifully reflected the charm, culture, people, and way of life of Chiang Mai through the language of cinema.
We would like to sincerely thank every participating team, the judges, sponsors, and everyone who joined the event for being part of this memorable evening filled with stories and unforgettable moments.
Film Village 2026 was more than just a film competition. It was a space for learning, sharing, and the growth of creative energy from young people who came together to portray their vision of a “livable city” through the beauty of film.
