On Friday, March 6, 2026, Maejo University organized a screening event showcasing short films created by second-year students at SF Cinema Maya Chiang Mai. The event provided a valuable platform for students to present their films to the public while receiving professional feedback from experienced practitioners in the film and creative media industry.
Prior to the screening, Nipan Chawcharernpon had the opportunity to mentor the student teams in the area of post-production, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the processes involved after filming. This guidance covered various aspects, including editing, narrative structuring, and refining different elements of the films to achieve a more cohesive and polished final result. These foundations are essential for students as they continue to develop their filmmaking skills.
During the event, a total of 10 short films were screened. The program also invited industry professionals to serve as guest judges, providing scores and constructive feedback on each film. The judging panel included Nipan Chawcharernpon and Jason De Ford, who kindly attended the screening and shared their professional perspectives with the students.
In his feedback, Nipan Chawcharernpon focused on screenwriting, film directing, and the post-production process, emphasizing the importance of strong narrative structure, emotional communication through characters, and the effective use of editing techniques to strengthen storytelling.
Meanwhile, Jason De Ford provided insights on production, cinematography, lighting, and color grading, highlighting how these visual elements contribute significantly to the atmosphere and visual identity of a film.
The atmosphere throughout the event was filled with enthusiasm and dedication from the students. Watching their work projected on a real cinema screen, combined with receiving thoughtful feedback from experienced professionals, created a meaningful learning opportunity that broadened perspectives and inspired the next generation of filmmakers.
Ultimately, this event served not only as a stage for showcasing student work, but also as an important learning experience that encouraged students to reflect, improve, and further develop their skills, applying what they learned toward future creative projects. 🎬
In addition, a short film by Nipan Studios titled “Bond” (Thai: Phantha) was also screened during the event. The film’s three young lead actors—Newton- Kritpoj Saeyang, Cheng- Thayos Saeyang, and Game- Suttichai Worajanpensri—attended the screening and participated in an interview session, where they shared their experiences and stories from working on and filming the project. Their reflections offered the audience a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes process and the unique experiences of performing in a film production, adding another meaningful dimension to the event.
Each of the student films presented at the screening showcased unique ideas, storytelling approaches, and creative styles. The diversity of concepts and presentation reflected not only the imagination of the young filmmakers but also the growing skills and development of every student involved in the filmmaking process.
Although these projects may represent only a small step in each student’s journey as a filmmaker, they are, in many ways, a significant beginning. Behind every film lies dedication, determination, and tremendous effort—both physically and creatively—as well as the commitment required to transform ideas and imagination into moving images on the cinema screen.
Witnessing the passion, determination, and courage of these emerging filmmakers is truly inspiring for Nipan Studio, which is grateful to have had the opportunity to play a small role in supporting and sharing experiences with them.
Nipan Studio is proud and delighted to see the growth of the next generation of filmmakers and is honored to stand as a source of encouragement and support for all students who dream of stepping into the film and creative media industry in the future. 🎬
